As of 25 May 2018 the application of the REGULATION (EU) 2016/679 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) is commenced. The Regulation shall be equally applied within the European Union.
Personal data: any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (e.g. name, surname, personal identity number, any medicine-related data etc.).
Special category data: personal data including the information about race and ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs and political opinions, trade union memberships, data related to sexual preferences, sex life, and/or sexual orientation. Separate category of data singled out in the GDPR that is subject to specific treatment.
Processing: any operation which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, such as collection, recording, storage, organisation, alteration, use, transfer, disclosure by transmission, dissemination, blocking or erasure.
