As of 25 May 2018 REGULATION (EU) 2016/679 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with
regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such
data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation)
(hereinafter - the Regulation) shall be equally applied across the European
Union.

Definitions used in the Regulation:
Personal data shall mean any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (for example, name, surname, personal identification number, any medical information, etc.).
Special categories of personal data shall mean personal data revealing race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or beliefs, trade-union membership, as well as data concerning health or sex life of a person. Separate category of data singled out in the Regulation that is subject to specific treatment.
Processing of personal data shall mean any operation carried out regarding personal data, including data collection, registration, recording, storing, arrangement, transformation, use, transfer, transmission and dissemination, blockage or erasure.

At the same time we inform you that “Rīga Stradiņš University Rules and Regulations for Use of Information Technology Tools to Ensure the Study Process” were approved by RSU Rector’s Decree No. 5-1/363/2020 of 02.09.2020 and a new unified procedure for the use of IT tools at RSU has been introduced.
The Rules and Regulations regulate:
- List of IT tools to be used and manner in which the information is to be provided, the conditions for the use of the video camera and microphone, information on profiling and data transfer to third countries (if applicable);
- Commitments of students and lecturers.
