The RSU IT department specialists and external experts have tested the broadcasting and WiFi service multiple times in the Mārupe Street dormitory. The results show that the existing WiFi 2.4GHz band capacity is exhausted due to the usage of multiple private routers, belonging to the residents of the dormitory.
To improve the RSU WiFi service in the Mārupe Street dormitory the eduroam and RSU guest WiFi networks will be completely switched to the 5GHz band that will allow more powerful devices to use this network while unburdening the current 2.4GHz band. The existing 2.4GHz RSU Open network will also be improved allowing to be used by the devices that do not support a 5GHz band.
Using the new standard will allow you to use the modern device resources as well as exempting the broadcast for the 2.4GHz band users.
The configuration of the network will be done on Monday, January 23.
On Monday from 5pm to 8pm an IT specialist will be present in the dormitory available to help you switch to the new network if you will be needing assistance.
